Chemtech Virtual Conference on Green Coating and Technology’21

Abstract: This year’s paints and coating conference, Chemtech, was held virtually over Zoom amidst the rising Covid’19 crisis. Our CMD, Mr. Bharat Chokshi, was honored to deliver the keynote address on the topic of Green Coating and Technology. He also spoke about green chemistry from fashion to functionality.

The Crux of the Matter: Many aspects are taken into consideration while developing paints.

With the advancement of technology, the paints and coating industry has evolved into a more customer driven industry. From delivering sustainable paints to environmental friendly paints, the industry has always shaped itself to cater the challenges faced by its customers. 

But here’s the catch: while we are thinking fast we should also ensure that the resources are used mindfully. Solvent free coatings such as powder coatings and water based coatings for the decorative markets are already widely commercialized technologies that cause no harm to the environment, but at the same time, water being a limited resource shouldn’t be exploited. 

Hence, our compass should point us towards a more sustainable direction.

To Sum Up: While addressing the fundamentals of green coating on the industrial paint segment, the focus should be on designing high volume solid and low VOC products for maximum impact and sustainability.
